These pants feature a thunderbird design by Joshua Watts
Thunderbirds are supernatural beings within many cultural groups around the world. They are massive supernatural birds that in our history would cause storms with lightning and thunder.
In Skwxwú7 mesh territory there is a mountain known as "Tl'áktl'ak múten tl'a Ín7inyáx̱a7en," otherwise known as black tusk mountain near whistler. This mountain is one of few where the thunderbird would roost in between its flight.
The Nuu-Chah-Nulth people honor the thunderbird within all their art, from paintings, to totem poles, to dance screens potlatchs and cultural apparel. This is because in the beginning of time, Thunderbird would visit with the people in the form of a person, and would teach their early ancestors very important skills such as carving, and hunting whales.
