Embroidered SnapBack featuring White "Xwechtaal" design by Joshua Watts
In Skwxwú7 mesh history, the two-headed serpent was known as Sinalhkay (pronounced “say-ath-k-igh”). This serpent terrorized and destroyed many villages, until one day a young warrior named Xwechtáal (pronounced “xwech-tall”) was chosen to kill the serpent. He hunted it for four years, following it across many mountains in the Skwxwú7 mesh territory, one of which now has a black streak carved into it. Finally, Xwechtáal killed the serpent in a lake, with the help of the lady of the lake, ending its terror.
This legend is a part of a longer history that eventually led to the Skwxwú7 mesh people amalgamating into a unified people.
